The Permanent Web Summit Qatar Organising Committee convened in Doha this week to accelerate preparations for Web Summit Qatar 2026 and coordinate Qatar’s participation in Web Summit Lisbon 2025. The meeting reinforced the country’s growing influence in the global technology ecosystem.
The session was chaired by Sheikh Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabor Al Thani, Director of the Government Communications Office and Chairman of the Permanent Web Summit Organising Committee. It brought together senior representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, the Qatar Investment Authority, Invest Qatar, and Qatar Airways, alongside Web Summit’s leadership team led by Chief Commercial Officer Kevin McDonald.
Sheikh Jassim highlighted the significance of the summit’s expansion:
“The exponential growth of Web Summit Qatar underscores the region’s growing demand for world-class technology gatherings and affirms Qatar’s standing as a leading force in the global innovation ecosystem.”
Preparations for Lisbon 2025
A key focus of the meeting was finalising Qatar’s official delegation to Web Summit Lisbon 2025. The delegation will participate in high-level sessions and showcase Qatar’s innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem to global audiences.
Ambitious Goals for 2026
Looking ahead, the committee outlined an ambitious plan for Web Summit Qatar 2026. The upcoming edition aims to attract 30,000 attendees and will introduce four new specialist tracks: New Media Summit, Sports Summit, Machine Summit, and Health Summit.
Record Results in 2025
The 2025 edition marked a milestone for Qatar’s role in the global technology space, attracting:
- 25,747 attendees from 124 countries
- 1,520 startups and 723 investors
- Over 325,000 in-app connection requests
These achievements consolidated Web Summit Qatar’s status as the region’s largest technology and innovation event. The platform continues to align with the Qatar National Vision 2030, positioning Doha as a hub for global technology dialogue and partnership development.
