Found by two women dealing with the challenges of new motherhood and backed by the Qatar Foundation, Therappy app connects users to a secure online network of psychological therapists providing quick, inexpensive, and confidential access to professional therapy. Therappy supports video sessions, audio conversations, texts, and live chats so that people may receive help whenever and wherever they need it using their smartphone.
How does it work?
Online counselling allows you to communicate with a qualified therapist from the comfort of your own home and at an expense lower than traditional in-person treatment. First, you register and provide some information about yourself. Then, the rest is up to the team that consists of the best therapists. There are no lineups to wait in, no judgment, and complete protection of your personal information – Therappy is created for people struggling with traditional therapy.
Initially found as an app for women facing motherhood challenges, the app now partners with therapists worldwide specializing in anxiety, depression, substance addiction, trauma, couples therapy, and many other topics.
How it all started
The difficulties of early motherhood can be daunting, and they can negatively influence women’s mental health. That is what drove two Qatari women to come up with the idea of an app offering online access to therapy via video sessions, texting, and phone conversations to help new mothers deal with the hardships of parenthood.
After presenting the idea, Therappy was awarded a grant from Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP), which is part of Qatar Foundation Research and Development.

Shortly after releasing, Covid-19 forced individuals to stay at home, affecting even those who were already receiving traditional counselling and emphasizing the need for a service like Therappy.
The mission of Therappy
The objective of the app is to link users with therapists with whom they feel comfortable conversing, regardless of their gender, ethnicity, or experience. It also aims to use the platform to assist mental health practitioners in growing their customer base.
