14th Japan-Qatar Meeting Focuses on Business Growth

On Monday, July 29, 2024, the 14th Meeting of the Improvement of Business Environment and Investment Working Group between Japan and Qatar took place online. The meeting focused on exploring new opportunities and strategies for enhancing trade and investment between the two nations.

The Japanese delegation included FUNATSU Ryuichi, Director of the Second Middle East Division at the Middle Eastern and African Affairs Bureau. He was joined by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry.

Representing Qatar were Saleh Abdullah Al-Mana, Director General of the Department of International Cooperation and Trade Agreements at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, along with officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and the Qatar Investment Authority.

During last year’s visit to Qatar, Japanese Prime Minister KISHIDA Fumio expressed strong optimism about the potential for accelerated cooperation between the public and private sectors of both countries. He emphasized that this cooperation could lead to mutual growth and prosperity. Prime Minister Kishida highlighted Qatar’s importance as one of Japan’s most reliable partners in energy security.

This ongoing dialogue underscores the commitment of both Japan and Qatar to deepen their economic and trade relations, aiming for substantial benefits for both nations through strategic collaboration and investment.
